2009 was truly an exciting year for julsdesign. during one of the worst economies since the great depression, we've been humming right along, helping our clients reach their customers clearly and effectively, while also saving them money along the way.

but we're not resting on our laurels - we've also been working tirelessly to do a better job of serving you. our massive remodeling project will give us more room to grow, hold larger client meetings, and collaborate on future ground-breaking designs. It's true - 2009 was a great year, but we're not done yet. expect excellence from us in the next decade.

the logo is one of the most important pieces to a company's marketing. it's the foundation which shapes the company's overall image. if you're considering changing your marketing and branding materials or starting a new business, the logo should be the first thing you consider.

the logo is where we begin, and we then build everything off the look and feel of the logo. while it's difficult to categorize a logo into "good" or "bad" terms, because it's all subjective, there are some guidelines and several things we consider when designing a logo. there are also many things to think about when going forward with a new logo or deciding to update an old one:

our business continues to grow because of referrals. thank you so much for continuing to mention the julsdesign experience with friends and others seeking graphic design expertise. it means so much to us that you continue to show confidence in us. we love helping others grow and achieve their goals, and we are grateful for the opportunity to help businesses of all sizes succeed on a day-to-day basis.


year in review

  • phase one of our construction is complete   and we're on to phase two! we have a goal of april 1 for completion. when it's all said and done, we'll be up-to-date with today's latest and greatest technology.
  • innovation showroom   in october, we used our design magic to help townsend engineering's tradeshow booth bring in over 1,000 visitors, tripling the number from the 2007 show.
  • helping hits   in june, we designed the logo and donated man (and woman) hours to help the organization raise over $30,000 towards colon cancer research.
  • launched a new ad campaign   last fall, we helped the iowa clinic with a new "cancer doesn't care" campaign, starring our very own heather. the campaign spreads the word about cancer affecting a younger population.

staff accomplishments this year:

  • heather   had a baby boy
  • lindsay   aced her drawing class
  • josh   took his first plane ride to florida
  • matt   ran a marathon
  • deanna   re-lived her childhood this summer, hunting geodes with her daughter
  • kelly   was hired and she's awesome
  • julie's   son, austin is a senior at ankeny high, anthony is healthy - and sassy as ever.

our mother's day mailer won an award! we are the proud winners of a 2010 american package design award from graphic design usa (gdusa)! there were over 1,500 entries and less than 150 firms took away awards. look for us in their publication coming out in march.
